1

Choose Your Course and University

Use the UCAS search tool for undergraduate courses or individual university websites for postgraduate programs. Pay close attention to entry requirements, especially A-level or IB equivalents, and the required personal statement.

2

Apply via UCAS (for Undergraduates)

Nearly all undergraduate applications are made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). You can apply to up to five courses through a single application. The main deadline is typically in late January.

3

Apply Directly (for Postgraduates)

Postgraduate (Master's, PhD) applications are usually made directly to the university via their online portal. Requirements include a strong personal statement, academic references, and your undergraduate transcripts.

4

Receive Offer & Confirmation of Acceptance (CAS)

Universities will send you a conditional (if you still have exams to take) or unconditional offer. Once you meet all conditions and firmly accept the offer, the university will issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number, which is vital for your visa application.

5

Apply for Your Student Visa

With your CAS number, apply for a Student visa online on the GOV.UK website. You must prove you have enough money to pay for your course and support yourself (proof of funds) and provide biometric information at a visa application center.
