Applying to German Universities
Check Your Eligibility (HZB)
This is the most critical first step. Ensure your previous qualifications (e.g., HSC) are recognized for university admission. This is called the 'Hochschulzugangsberechtigung' (HZB). Check your status on the DAAD or Anabin databases. If you don't qualify directly, you must attend a one-year 'Studienkolleg' (preparatory course).

Use the official DAAD database to search for thousands of courses. While many Master's programs are in English, learning German is highly beneficial for daily life and job prospects. For German-taught programs, you will need proof of proficiency (TestDaF or DSH).
Secure Financial Proof (Blocked Account)
For your visa, you must prove you have sufficient funds to cover your living expenses. This is done by depositing at least €11,208 (as of 2024) into a German blocked account (Sperrkonto). This money is released to you in monthly installments (€934/month) after you arrive.
Apply to Universities (Uni-assist or Direct)
Many German universities use a centralized application portal called Uni-assist to handle and verify international applications. Others require you to apply directly via their portal. Always check the university's website and pay close attention to the strict deadlines (July 15 for winter, Jan 15 for summer).

Once you have your admission letter (Zulassungsbescheid), book an appointment at the German Embassy in Dhaka. You will need your admission letter, proof of the blocked account, travel health insurance, and other documents for your application.
